Logo of the Abbey Multi faith and Cultural Dialogue CentreThe Abbey Multi-Faith and Cultural Dialogue Centre was established in 2018 and provides an opportunity for the wider community, cultural and ethnic groups as well as civic authorities to learn about different faith and cultural traditions whilst respecting each other beliefs and practices.

The primary objective of the Abbey Centre is to encourage local faith, cultural and ethnic communities and their respective leaders to become a model of religious and civic peace in the wider Moreton Bay region. This requires religious, cultural and civic leaders to come together and explore ways of how to live together peacefully, respectfully and harmoniously and support each other in the hour of need.’

After its successful launch, on 10th August 2018, the Abbey Multi-Faith and Cultural Dialogue Centre convened the 1st Interfaith and Cultural Dialogue Symposium 2019, titled: “Understanding each other’s Faith and Cultural Tradition”.

The Symposium was designed to explore possibilities of how different faiths and cultural traditions in the wider Moreton Bay region could become a model for religious and civic peace.

The symposium recommended the formation of a Moreton Bay Goodwill Committee, to build a gracious, progressive and resilient community through continuous engagement, dialogue, activities and social interaction across the Moreton Bay Region and beyond.

The Moreton Bay Good Will Committee was established in 2023 with its members being drawn from a number of faith communities as well as civic authorities. Work towards setting up a Youth Forum then commenced and the Committee hosted a forum for youth in 2024.

Interfaith and Cultural Dialogue meetings, symposia, and workshops have been hosted by Abbey Multifaith and Cultural Dialogue Centre, including the Exploration of Faith Series themed on “Who is my God?”
